Blossom Jewellery Hallmarking

All pieces of Blossom jewellery are all handmade Sterling silver pieces of jewellery, which have been made by myself in my workshop based in Chester, UK.

Most of Blossom Jewellery items once made are sent off to the Birmingham assay office to be stamped and certified 925 Sterling silver along with my sponsor mark CHH, Which is the initials of my name Cenna Howarth Hartley.

This is how my markings will look on the back of each piece that has been stamped.

The only items you won’t find these stamps on are most pieces from the Trinity collection due to the weight of each pendant or pair of earrings being less than 7 grams it does not require a stamp by law.

If you would like them to be stamped that is not a problem, I can send them off for you. Please be aware that your order will take slightly longer to go through the required steps once I’ve made your jewellery for you. For example rings once I’ve received your size if it is not already made the process can take up to a week or two to be completed by myself and then the assay office.

To test each piece they use a chemical called Nitric Acid to test the silver to check if it is pure or plated. To do so, file a small part of the item in a discreet area where it cannot be seen. Apply a few drops of nitric acid. If the area turns into creamy white, the silver is pure or sterling.

Then once passed as sterling silver it will be stamped 925, 900 or 800.

You can do a ice cube test at home if you would like to check some silver that’s hasn’t got any markings on them.

All’s you have to do is place an ice cube on the silver you would like to test. If the ice cube melts quickly, then the metal you own is real. Silver has the highest thermal conductivity and when you place an ice cube on silver, it will melt at a faster rate.

Fun fact hey!

Jewellery is a key part of our everyday style, so I want to make sure you're getting the best quality pieces of sterling silver jewellery.

I hope you all enjoy wearing your Blossom Jewellery items just as much as I enjoyed making every single piece for you.
